Dawson Bursary

This scholarship is awarded to a Faculty of Science student undertaking graduate research in the discipline of biological sciences, on the basis of financial need, with preference given to children of returned soldiers.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • Provide evidence of supervisor endorsement,
    • Be enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy Science, or Master of Philosophy Science at the University of Melbourne,
    • Be confirmed prior to the closing of this application,
    • Demonstrate Financial Need by completing the online Student Financial Assessment Form
    • Be undertaking a substantial Faculty of Science research project that is significantly aligned to one of the below disciplines:
      • Anatomy,
      • Bacteriology,
      • Biochemistry,
      • Botany,
      • Genetics,
      • Paleontology,
      • Pathology,
      • Physiology,
      • Zoology.

    Note:

    • Preference will be given to applicants who have a parent who is a returned soldier,
    • Students undertaking purely clinical research in Medicine are not eligible to apply.

    Selection criteria

    Eligible candidates will be ranked based on:

    • The strength of the research and its alignment to the discipline of biological science,
    • Level of disadvantage based on financial need,
    • Evidence of parental returned soldier status.

    Applicants need to submit the Student Financial Assessment Form to be considered for this scholarship.
