We study and model the role of the ocean circulation in our Earth's climate.
In particular, we focus on the physics of the ocean (physical oceanography) and we use a combination of theory, numerical modelling, and machine learning methods to understand the role of the ocean in our current and changing climate. We further develop numerical models and contribute in the development of climate models that use state-of-the-art hardware and software advancements like graphical processing units (GPUs), data-driven parameter estimation, machine learning, etc.
