Research facilities and equipment

World-class research combines great minds with great tools, and the School uses a range of cutting edge resources from chemistry labs to cyclone trackers.

Facilities available to partners

We have made a number of innovative facilities and services available to support research.

  • AIRBOX

A custom-built laboratory in a shipping container to carry out comprehensive atmospheric monitoring and take campaign measurements in hard to access places, such as near the Great Barrier Reef and the Southern Ocean.

  • Cyclone Tracker

The University of Melbourne Cyclone Detection and Tracking Algorithm can be downloaded for any non-profit application.

  • Melbourne TrACEES Platform

Melbourne TrACEES Platform (Trace Analysis for Chemical, Earth and Environmental Sciences) identifies and quantifies elements, chemicals and structures on the surface of a sample.
