Analytical capabilities

The Speleothem Research Group has expertise across a wide range of analytical techniques and hosts state‑of‑the‑art analytical facilities within the Stable Isotope and Melbourne Analytical Geochemistry laboratories. We routinely perform:

Stable isotope analysis of carbonates (δ¹³C and δ¹⁸O) via dual‑inlet and continuous‑flow IRMS
Clumped isotope (Δ₄₇) analysis of carbonates
Stable isotope analysis of water (using a Picarro CRDS)
U–Th dating of carbonates
U–Pb dating of carbonates (via solution MC‑ICP‑MS and LA‑ICP‑MS)
Microsampling of carbonates, including samples with complex internal stratigraphy
