Earth Surface Processes profoundly influence the way that people interact with their environment. As populations expand and the Earth System changes, our ability to understand, predict and adapt is underpinned by an understanding of how the Earth’s surface behaves and our role in this system.
Subjects in the Earth Surface Processes Pathway explore the processes and dynamics in the Earth system, such as climate change and hazards and their influence on hydrology, landscape evolution, fluvial dynamics and ecosystem processes. Our subjects also explore how landforms are constructed and change through time, and how humans influence and are influenced by these Earth Surface Processes.
Skills associated with this pathway
Graduates of the Earth Surface Processes Pathway will gain skills in the fields of hydrology, coastal dynamics, river systems, soil forming processes, landscape evolution, empirical data collection and analysis, spatial analysis, critical thinking and writing.
