SGEAS Colloquia - Creative Place-making in Singapore

T.C. Chang (University of Singapore)

Applying the dual concepts of ‘community art’ and ‘creative placemaking’, this colloquium explores the rationale, processes and outcomes of public participation in Singapore’s urban beautification efforts. The full potential of community art and creative placemaking remains frustrated in Singapore but the promises of participatory planning and social cohesion are also widely acknowledged, offering some hope for a more creative future.
