Tenney Environmental Chamber
The Tenney Junior Environmental Chamber (model TJR) is a benchtop unit that can produce specific interior temperatures between -75 and 200 degrees Celcius (+/- 0.03%). The interior space measures 400 x 300 x 300 mm and features a device inlet hole and insulation plug. This means that sensors can be introduced into the interior and connected by wire to an external laptop in order to take measurements whilst at specific temperatures.
The device has also been upgraded with a Watlow Series F4S/D control panel which allows for specif profiles to be programmed - eg. automated ramping speeds, stepped temperature intervals, and shutoff times and temperatures.
The chamber is housed in the Petrophysics Laboratory at the University of Melbourne where it is used to dry saturated rock samples, calibrate equipment and measure the thermal conductivity of rocks at specific ambient temperatures.
