Bartington magnetic susceptibility portable system
The portable MS3 meter is used with one of the sensors to measure magnetic susceptibility (sensitivity ~2 × 10⁻⁶ SI) and inform on the composition and magnetic properties of materials.
The MS2B dual frequency sensor is used to measure the magnetic susceptibility of soil, rock and sediment samples, magnetic fluids, inks and micro/nano particles. The dual frequency facility permits identification of superparamagnetic grains, which helps characterise the processes that affect the sample. The sensor accepts 10 and 20 ml cylindrical bottles, 25.4 mm and 23 mm cubic boxes, 35 mm pots, and 25.4 mm cylindrical cores.
The MS2E core logging surface sensor is designed for measurements on the surface of split drill or soft sediment cores. The sensitive area of the probe (i.e. the area receiving 50% maximum response) is in the form of a 3.8 x 10.5mm rectangle, enabling high spatial resolution surface measurements.
AGICO Kappabridge magnetic susceptibility system
The Agico Kappabridge KLY5A with furnace CS4 is a tabletop instrument for the precise measurement of magnetic susceptibility (sensitivity ~2 × 10⁻⁸ SI) of rocks, environmental and human-made materials. Magnetic susceptibility measurements include in-phase and out-of-phase, anisotropy, field and temperature variations up to 700 Celcius. The instrument is fully equipped with an automated up/down mechanism and 3D rotator, allowing for easy, rapid and precise measurements.
Thermomagnetic heating and cooling curves are done on powdered samples (ca 1 g) in air or argon gaz. The anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) is measured on standard cube and cylinder samples (volumes from 7 to 10 cm3) and fragments up to 40 cm3 may be use for static magnetic susceptibility.
Quantum Design MPMS3 Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) magnetometer
The MPMS3 SQUID allows for the high sensitivity (≤10-8 emu) measurement of magnetic response to an applied magnetic field up to 7 Tesla with temperature variation from 2-400 Kelvin on sample sizes as small as a few milligrams. Multiple measurement modes are available, including DC, VSM and AC susceptibility.
Diamond wire saw
The fully automatic diamond wire saw STX-1203 by Shenyang Kejing Auto-instrument Co., Ltd.is designed for precision cutting samples of different rigidity such as ceramics, crystals, glass, metals, rocks, thermoelectric materials, infrared optical materials, composite materials, and biomedical materials, etc.
Main features includes 1) the main motor drives the diamond wire (diameter 0.35 mm) to move downward at a constant speed, and the material (up to 30 cm size) is fixed on the workbench to ensure stable cutting, 2) the workbench can be adjusted by 360˚ manually or through program control with X and Y axis 0.01 mm accuracy, 3) pneumatic tensioning system with imported pneumatic components is applied to make the tensioning force more stable and reliable, 4) Programmable logic controller (PLC) system and large-size touch screen make the operation simple and fast.
