C-THERM Trident Thermal Conductivity Instrument
The C-Therm Trident is a transient thermal conductivity instrument that can be fitted with a number of different sensors to suit different material and test paraments.
Currently, it is only equipped with the Modified Transient Plane Source (MTPS) sensor which measures thermal conductivity (W/Mk) and thermal effusivity with >5% accuracy. It is calibrated for use on liquids, powders, pastes, insulators, polymers and ceramics (including rock) with a full conductivity range of 0-29 W/Mk. It requires minimal training and sample preparation and is capable of recording many measurements quickly and automatically (each taking no more than a minute to process). It can also be used in altered pressure and temperature environments (from -50C to 200C).
The Device is currently housed in the Petrophysics Laboratory at University of Melbourne but can be easily transported for use off site.
