Olympus Delta Portable XRF
The Olympus Delta XRF scanner can measure the elemental composition of a sample from Magnesium to Uranium when present in weight percentage down to ppm. This is a rapid (60 seconds) and non-destructive method that has been calibrated for use on soil, rock and archaeological materials. Of particular focus are the radiogenic elements (K, Th and U) which can be used to determine the heat production of a rock.
This device is housed within the University of Melbourne but can be transported off site for field-used.
